Choose a tree,
not a tombstone

So many people love being in nature, but so few of us realise we have the option to become part of nature when we die.

We’re a family-run team that arranges natural burials. We love explaining what it’s all about and how it works. If you have any questions please do reach out — we’d love to help you learn more.

What is natural burial?

Natural burial means being buried in a natural environment like a woodland or wildflower meadow, instead of a graveyard or cemetery, using only natural materials: no plastic, concrete or chemicals.

It’s a green way to become part of nature when we die, making a positive impact on the environment. Our natural burial sites are uplifting places to visit, buzzing with nature and wildlife all year round.

How it works

There are four types of natural burial we can arrange. They all involve natural materials only, and take place in one of our beautiful natural burial sites.

Natural burial
(from £1,675)

This means burying a person in a biodegradable coffin using only natural materials, either within woodland (a tree and plaque are planted alongside) or a wildflower meadow (a plaque is placed).

Natural burial of ashes
(from £700)

This means burying ashes in the ground in a biodegradable container. As with our main natural burial approach, this can be within woodland (with a tree and plaque) or a wildflower meadow (plaque).

Cremation + natural burial of ashes
(from £2,295)

This means enlisting us to arrange an unattended cremation and burial of ashes in the ground in a biodegradable container. As with all approaches, burial of ashes can be attended or unattended.

Memorial tree without burial
(from £600)

This means planting a tree in someone’s memory without a burial taking place. This too can be attended or unattended. All trees are accompanied by a welsh slate plaque with a bespoke inscription.

Choose a tree

Planting a tree in someone’s memory is such a special thing to do. You can choose from several species to suit the person being remembered. Some grow tall and some bear fruit, at home in our tranquil woodlands.

Visiting Tithe Green

An hour or a day at Tithe Green feels nothing like visiting a cemetery. You’re completely surrounded by nature doing its thing. Bring a picnic, walk the dog, or just listen to the birds. You can visit 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our sites

Our natural burial sites are humming with life: trees sway in the breeze, bees carry pollen from wildflower to wildflower. We take great care of these beautiful, biodiverse spaces, open to visitors all day, every day.

We currently have three sites, all in the East Midlands, and we’ll be opening more around the UK in time. Our locations are of course convenient for those living nearby, but people visit Tithe Green from all over the country — we don’t have a catchment policy, you can be based anywhere.

“Peaceful and still resting place. A straight forward process with stress taken from an emotional time. Dad laid to rest with ease. Just right.”
